Can we flip it maybe?

In this week's class we learned about flipped class and made a video about it. The process was a bit hard for us. We used "PowToon" which had a little bit of a learning curve making it a little hard. Besides that,  in general I believe this approach is quite advantageous. The method allows students to learn and study in their own time and actually not tiring the teacher as much while doing so.

We created a video and a khoot to be used afterwards. They are linked doen below;

You Must! No, You Have To! Wait, What?

  In this blog I will be talking about my homework which was; creating some activities and making students use corpora while teaching them differences between out chosen words. In this homework we were a group of 4 students, and we designed some actives according to the objective which was written in the lesson plan we made. I happened to really like the activity making part of the homework. It was really fun playing with Canva and designing a page which i assumed students would like. I can see myself designing worksheets for students and having much fun while doing so. The lesson plan part was a bit harder to do. We had use all of the part we learned in the class in order to do it. Which was why we had the homework I presume. So that makes the homework a good homework so I am happy we the homework in general.

Hello Again!

 Hello again dear blog readers,

I have used this blog last semester for my "Instructional Technologies and Material Design in English Language" course and this new semester I will be using this blog again for my "Current Issues in Teaching" class. I didn't figure out at first sight that the courses were related but after a couple of session I have realized that this new class is the continuation of the old one. Which was a lovely surprise because I happened to quite enjoy the course last semester. So, in this course (and as a result, in this blog) will be talking about technology use in teaching.

This semester our department happed to move to another campus. I think this is one of the courses handicaps. When saying it like this it seems unrelated, but our new campus doesn't really catch phone signals or internet. This means that we are learning a course about technology use and the internet without really having any of those in class which sometimes makes hilarious moments. But at the end I think I would be quite enjoying the class throughout the semester like I did the old one.

The Last Hurrah!!

 As I wrap up this term, I find myself reflecting deeply on my experiences and the significant growth I’ve had in understanding technology integration in English Language Teaching (ELT). This course has been an eye-opening journey, transforming my perspective on the role of technology in education.

An Interview From The Past

This week, I had an assignment that blended historical with modern technology. The task was to conduct an interview with a historical figure using AI and then write a blog post about the experience. As someone fascinated by the complex and dramatic stories of the past, I chose to interview Anne Boleyn, the enigmatic second wife of King Henry VIII and mother of Queen Elizabeth I. Anne Boleyn's legacy is profound, not just as the mother of one of England's greatest monarchs but as a woman who navigated the perilous waters of the Tudor court with grace and intelligence.

I had a lot fun while talking with this historical figure and assuming what she was going to say.  I believe this was a fun homework to give to students it lets them learn about historical characters while having fun. When I became a teacher, I would definitely give an assignment similar to this, I think it would help to further their English while having fun. Though I think the last part with the feedback was unnecessary. I think it added some unimportant steps to an already long assignment. and we as future English teacher are capable of feedbacking ourselves.
